YAY!!! New Hello Waffles!! Don't you just hate it when people are inappropriately loud in quiet zones?! I do, too... Why can't they just shut the hell up?

As to feeling large and wanting to scurry off into hidden corners, don't worry about it. We all go through those periods...whether it has to do with "feeling large" or feeling strange or whatever it is that is allowing you to set yourself apart from the rest of the community, it's affecting all of us, even those who fit into those "normal" segments you were referring to. Everyone is different...everyone has their issues, whether we can perceive & understand them or not. Besides, who the hell wants to be homogenized anyway??

HUGS!

I really liked your thoughts about SM. You hit it on the head with how concrete and literal it tends to interpret the idea of power. I guess I find some of the SM stuff in the gay male community to be too "obvious" or stereotypical machismo. I don't see it as being all that transgressive, at least in the major cities, too. I suppose 40 or 50 years ago it was; but when a community has a flag, an anthem, and an annual pageant show, it doesn't seem all that transgressive.

OTH, listening to a podcast where one hears the sweet sounds of birds chirping in the background whilst the narrator casually describes his encounter the night before with another gay man desiring to drink his urine - that's a bit transgressive (you mentioned this on the last podcast). I was eating breakfast while listening and had to stop for moment. Sorry.

My experiences with the lesbian nation tends to be much more favorable than yours, which might be because my sister and one of my best pals in the entire world (you know her as Teresa) are citizens of said nation.

Keep podcasting!

What was the music at the very end of the podcast after the disaster of the soup? I really like that a lot!

I think you and Kentie have a little podcast tag team comment thingy going on. Maybe I should get a comment line, too. :)

I think this is the episode where you read the story I'm thinking of. I rewound "in that moment ronnie felt that they were all women and shelly was the one with a meager dowery" over and over. The idea that women, and religious women especially are deprived of the ability to see a man they desire and fuck him without some serious consequences is something I think of so much. It probably shouldn't surprise me, although it frequently does, that even in the context of a subjugated queer minority male privileged still exists. I feel like I look to the queer community in order to learn how to approach my partner as an equal, something a woman is never taught to do.
